“ Acts Of Absurdity And Uncontrolled Laughter - I laughed harder and longer at one act this evening than I have at anything else I have seen” Charissa McCluskey-Garcia - 4 Stars (Clothesline)
Jeniffer Brown - RIP IT UP - 4 1/2 stars
A lively, entertaining, but definitely bizarre variety show, Acts of Absurdity lives up to its name. With four very unique acts, the performance comes together as an
assortment of magic, comedy, dance and exceptional physical feats.
Being a late Friday night show meant there were some rather unsavoury characters in the audience, but the cast never once faltered. It’s clear that they have been doing this for a long time – they are ridiculously talented performers and did a great job at entertaining the rest of us who wanted to actually see the show.
One of the more impressive feats was the work of contortionist Ruby Rubberlegs (aka Rani Huszar), as she squeezed into positions that made my stomach turn over. The final act, however, was the masterpiece, as Jacques Cliché (the alter ego of Leighton Stephens) wowed the audience with his acrobatic manoeuvrers on the Chinese pole.
Acts of Absurdity is a wonderfully peculiar show that has a little bit of everything, put on by some world-class performers. If you can’t decide what kind of show to see at Fringe this year, put your hard-earned cash towards this superb variety show and see it all. You won’t regret it.Charissa McCluskey-Garcia - CLOTHESLINE - 4 STARS
